Nothing Slows Down Sage, Born with HLHS

Sage was born with a congenital heart defect called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS),which means the left side of his heart did not develop. He was life-flighted to UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital in Gainesville, where he has undergone three open heart surgeries with Mark Bleiweis, MD, at the UF Health Congenital Heart Center. Sage’s mom and dad, Candi and Bryan Pridemore, said Sage will eventually need a heart transplant, but in the meantime, he enjoys a healthy, active childhood and a high quality of life.
