Daniela Neagu, M.D., is a board-certified pediatric cardiologist at the University of Florida Health Jacksonville Congenital Heart Center. She earned her medical degree at Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Romania and then completed a pediatric residency at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey, followed by a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Since then, she has worked as an assistant professor and pediatric cardiologist in both Florida and Texas.
Dr. Neagu’s passion for cardiology was forged by tragedy. Early in her training, she witnessed the loss of a young patient due to a delayed diagnosis of a complicated condition.
“That profound moment fundamentally shaped my view of medicine,” she said. “I became determined to become the most precise, vigilant clinician possible, and to this day I use the most advanced, precise noninvasive technology and techniques available to ensure every child receives an accurate, timely diagnosis.”
But it’s not all technology and technique. Dr. Neagu believes the key to delivering the best possible care begins with truly listening to patients and their families.
“I’m deeply committed to ensuring my patients and their families never feel unheard in my office,” she said. “Their unique stories are one of the most important pieces of the diagnostic puzzle. Solving that puzzle swiftly and accurately means giving my patients and their families absolute clarity and peace of mind.”
Dr. Neagu describes UF as an empowering academic environment that allows her to combine her passion for clinical excellence with her passion for teaching and collaborative medicine. As an associate professor with the Congenital Heart Center, she’ll leverage her deep knowledge and expertise to ensure the next generation of pediatric specialists, residents and medical students receive the best possible training.
