About Curt DeGroff
Hi, my name is Dr. DeGroff and I work as a professor of pediatric cardiology at the UF Health Congenital Heart Center. After finishing a very rewarding masters of science degree program at Cal Tech in Electrical Engineering, I had an unrewarding early career start in electrical engineering until I discovered medicine was the career I realized I was looking for. In my early medical training I discovered cardiology was the medical specialty where I could most use my engineering skills. On top of that I always wanted to work with kids so Pediatric Cardiology was the perfect fit for me.
I completed my pediatric residency program at the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Los Angeles. There, I was a committee member for evaluation of residents as well as the chief assistant to the director of the pediatric residency program. I then completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University in Portland.
Now at UF Health I am the medical director of noninvasive cardiac imaging. It is an honor to direct our imaging team here at UF Health where we have significant expertise in all aspects of noninvasive cardiac imaging. I am affiliate faculty of the University of Florida Biomedical Engineering Department. I am a fellow of the American Heart Association and a fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.
Outside of work I enjoy being active especially outdoors. My favorite ways to do this are through kayaking and biking.
