About John M Hellrung
John M. Hellrung, MD, FAAP, is board-certified in pediatrics. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Florida and graduated with his medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Hellrung completed his first residency in the department of pediatrics at the University of South Florida College of Medicine, and then accomplished two additional residencies in the department of pediatrics at the UF College of Medicine. Prior to his two residencies in Gainesville, he served in the military for the U.S. Army at the Irwin Army Community Hospital in the pediatrics department.
Before coming to UF Health, Dr. Hellrung practiced for 23 years at Gainesville Pediatric Associates. Currently, he is an adjunct associate professor of pediatrics and practices pediatric cardiology in the UF Health Congenital Heart Center. He is also an active medical staff member at the UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital.
His clinical interests include pediatrics and adolescent medicine.
