About Jose F Hernandez-Rivera

Hi, I am Dr. Jose Hernandez-Rivera. I am a Clinical Assistant Professor at UF Health’s Congenital Heart Center. I joined the department in October 2019 and practice in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.

I received my Medical Degree from the Universidad Dr. Jose Delgado Matias Delgado in El Salvador. Following medical school, I completed my residency training in General Pediatrics at The Brooklyn Hospital Center in Brooklyn, New York where I was honored to receive the “Resident of the Year Award” and served as Chief Resident. Following this residency, I continued on to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital in Miami, Florida to complete a fellowship in both Pediatric Critical Care Medicine and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care.

Prior to UF Health, I worked as a Pediatric Intensivist, exclusively working in the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at AdventHealth for Children. I have also contributed to multiple publications and lecture presentations to Fellows, Residents and Faculty at Miami Children’s Hospital and AdventHealth for Children, and more recently at UFHealth Shands.

I am Board Certified by American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. I also hold membership in multiple societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, Society of Critical Care Medicine, and Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society.
