About Joseph M Stidham
I’m passionate about medical education and mentorship, and I actively work with both medical students and residents. My commitment to service extends beyond the classroom through global health and community outreach, including medical mission work in Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic.
My path to pediatric cardiology began with earning my medical degree from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in 2016. After completing bachelor’s degrees in biology and anthropology at the University of Florida, I pursued my medical training. I went on to complete my pediatric residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and my pediatric cardiology fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University. Finally, I completed a senior fellowship in Advanced Cardiac Therapies at Boston Children’s Hospital gaining expertise in pediatric heart failure, mechanical circulatory support, and cardiac transplantation.
My clinical interests include heart failure, heart transplantation, and advanced mechanical support for children with severe heart disease. I’ve been fortunate to present research at national and international conferences, including the World Congress of Pediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT). I’ve also published in peer-reviewed journals, including Pediatric Cardiology, and contributed to collaborative research efforts through the ACTION Network.
I’m board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric cardiology. My goal is to combine evidence-based care with compassion, communication, and family-centered support, so that every child and family feels informed, empowered, and cared for throughout their journey.
